Yankees Win, Beat Phillies 7-4; Have A 3-1 Lead in "Jersey Turnpike" Series

The score was tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth with two out. Yankee leftfielder Johnny Damon singled, then stole second and third. Mark Teixeira was hit by a pitch from Phillies reliever Brad Lidge. Alex Rodriguez doubled, driving in Damon, with Teixeira going to third. Jorge Posada singled, driving in Teixeira and Rodriguez, but was thrown out at second.

That made it 7-4 Yankees. That was all that was needed.

Mariano Rivera pitched a perfect ninth, giving Joba Chamberlain the win in relief, Lidge took the loss. The Yankees lead the Series, 3-1.

Tonight, in what has become an elimination game for the Phillies, Game 2 starter AJ Burnett will face Game 1 starter Cliff Lee from Citizen's Bank Ball Park in Philadelphia for Game 5 of the 2009 World Series.
