Dunkin Donuts

Less than an hour to figure out what kind of apples Dunkin' Donuts uses in its warm apple pie.
Cortland? Jonathan? Winesap?
Why am I doing this? Because this is National Apple Pie Day (tucked right in there between National Nutty Fudge Day and National Buttermilk Biscuit Day) and the doughnut chain is offering its Twitter followers a $50 gift certificate to celebrate.
All I have to do is guess which kind of apples Dunkin Donuts uses and tweet the company here by 1 p.m. Eastern Time Friday.
Admittedly, a doughtnut chain celebrating National Apple Pie Day is a bit of a stretch. Why not National Blueberry Muffin Day (July 11)? Or, hey, Donut Day (June 3)?
But it's exactly these kinds of musings that are keeping me from meeting the deadline.
From a social media point of view, of course, this is a great way for Dunkin' to attract Twitter followers and create a little buzz around its apple pie ($1.29) without expending a lot of dough.
The chain nearly has 80,000 followers already. So, I'm wondering, does that lessen my chances?
Dunkin's press release says those who offer a correct guess, using hashtag #ApplePieDDay, are "eligible to win." But what does that mean!? Are there hundreds of $50 gift certificates – or just one?
The clock has just struck 12. I could call Jessica, a company spokeswoman, but the minutes are ticking down.
Double ack!
I’m guessing McIntosh. You?
