World Telecommunication Day

The purpose of World Telecommunication and Information Society day is to help spread the word and raise awareness of the endless possibilities of technology.
This year, it’s all about hi-lighting the use of the internet, and other information communication technologies in their use of bringing together societies and economies, and bridging digital divides.
The day marks the anniversary of the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention and the creation of the International Telecommunication Union, in 1865 – however has only been celebrated since 1969.
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day highlights the theme “Better life in rural communities with ICTs”, which was adopted by ITU Council in 2009 and follows up on the theme for 2010: “Better city, better life with ICTs”.
In the rural context, ICTs provide enhanced opportunities to generate income and combat poverty, hunger, ill health and illiteracy. In terms of generating business broadband and stimulating the growth of businesses will help encourage the economy and bring together separated communities.
ICTs increasingly dictate lifestyles and behaviour patterns and power the growth of trade and commerce, rural communities must not be allowed to fall behind cities in their quest for connectivity.
If you think that you may be able to benefit from better ICT services, or may be falling behind cities with faster business broadband packages, call Elitetele.com today and we can find a solution for you.
