‘Road Trip’ Actress Mia Amber Davis Died From a Blood Clot

Mia Amber Davis, most known for her role in Road Trip, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 36, and now her family says she died from a blood clot.

“The family is devastated,” Dr. Mignon R. Moore, Mia’s cousin, told E! News. “This was such an unexpected loss, and she went to a very reputable physician. I took her myself on the day of her surgery, and within 24 hours she was dead.”

Mia’s husband, Michael Yard, was notified last night by the coroner’s investigator, Moore says.

“Nothing has been confirmed but the coroner did tell us that he thinks Mia died from a blood clot related to the knee surgery,” she says. “We are just now finding this out that this is all too common and people don’t know the risks of arthroscopic surgery. They need to be made aware of the risks.”

Mia was apparently looking forward to her knee surgery to resolve an old sports injury.

“She had long-term problems with her knee,” her cousin explains. “It was always swollen, she couldn’t walk on it. She had big plans and was so excited about life. She was producing Divorce Court here in L.A.”

Mia’s funeral will be held in New York, but no date has been set yet.

The family is currently preparing to transport Mia’s body home.

Instead of flowers, Mia’s family has created the Mia Amber Memorial Fund for fans wishing to honor her memory.
