Philadelphia emcee, Cassidy, has had his fair share of run-ins with the law, as many other rappers do. However, Cassidy, whose real name is Barry Reese, has charges that are more severe than others. Sometime during the weekend, Cassidy was apprehended by Hackensack authorities on a warrant for violating his probation, but apparently he has become a suspect in a murder and two attempted murders that occurred in his hometown of Philly.
According to sources, Philadelphia Police contacted the Hackensack Police Department to inform them that Cassidy, who is a resident of Jersey City, had a warrant out for his arrest. They notified the local authorities that Cassidy should be considered ‘armed and dangerous,’ under a ‘high risk warrant.’
During a surveillance in front of Cassidy’s house, police were dispatched immediately when the rapper was seen vacating his residence around 1:30pm to stop at a nearby local convenience store. After confirming his identity during a routine felony motor vehicle stop, they arrested the rapper and brought him into custody. Hackensack police Lt. Timothy Lloyd commended the officers for doing ‘an outstanding job’ in the safe and secure apprehension. He also stated that the rapper was ‘very surprised’ upon arrest.
Lt. Lloyd has even quoted with saying:
“Without the proper teamwork going on, this could have spiraled out of control quickly.”
He was delighted and enthused that no one was injured during the arrest.
At press time, Cassidy was brought to the Bergen County Jail Annex to await extradition to Philadelphia.

What is going on with Cassidy? This is not the first time he’s collided with the law and it might be his last. Honestly, he might not get bail, no matter how good his lawyers are. We’ll just have to wait and see where the case goes from here.
Prodigy and Nas Discuss Peace Between Mobb Deep and the Illmatic Emcee
New York, NY – Mobb Deep and Nas weren’t always on the same page when they both emerged onto the rap scene in the mid 90’s. As a matter of fact, they had their fair share of ups and downs, between collaborations and diss records. In Prodigy’s new book ‘My Infamous Life,’ he mentioned on the feud between Nas and the veteran rap group even before their rookie years in Hip-Hop.
In ‘My Infamous Life,’ however, Prodigy does write about the differences between him and Nas' affiliates, as well as the run-ins that their respective crews have had together. Prodigy recalls battling Nas as young kids in Queensbridge. Through the years, the two acts have collaborated on their fair share of songs that include: Mobb Deep’s ‘Eye for an Eye’ and Nas' ‘Live Nigga Rap.’ There have also been a number of verbal barrages thrown back and forth, as well, especially on Nas' single he released in 2001 entitled ‘Destroy and Rebuild.’
MTV News recently sat down with Prodigy as they spoke about his book. As they inquired about Nas, Prodigy spoke about how they squashed the beef.
These were his comments:
“When I was writing this book, when I was locked up, Nas and myself we weren't on good terms, that didn't make me write anything crazy about him, I just told the story how I seen it. If you read the book, you'll see that I gave Nas crazy love ... He's like my mentor if you read the book. I look up to him through the whole book, from beginning to end.”
Nas was recently sat down with Sway during an exclusive interview, the QB emcee spoke on Prodigy’s initial call to him as soon as he was released from prison in March.
These were his comments:
“He called me as soon as he got out of jail; he got in touch with me. We talked about some things. I didn't know he had a book. He didn't tell me that. I guess he just wanted to clear the air on some past things that don't mean anything today.”
And then after the call, both the group and Nas went in the recent collaboration track entitled ‘Dog Shit’ that eventually leaked to the net sometime in April. Both Nas and Prodigy added their fair share of comments during separate interviews with MTV News.
Before Prodigy spoke on ‘Dog Shit, he added his comments about his past experience recording with Nas:
When we make songs together, man, it's another level, it's incredible music. It just gives you that feeling, like nostalgia almost. The music is just real powerful when Mobb Deep and Nas work together. So I said, 'We gotta keep that feeling going, man. We would be fools to stop doing that because of whatever petty bullshit that was going on.'
He then added this about ‘Dog Shit:’
“We put that aside and was like, 'All right, let's start doin' some music.' We had the 'Dog Shit' and made a couple of other joints that's crazy.”
From Nas’ perspective, he narrated the situation from his side of the tracks:
“I just jumped on the record; put that to the past or whatever ill feelings he had towards me, I think he was misinformed about things, like I was a negative guy or like I was trying to harm him in any kind of way. I think maybe he just grew up a little bit.”
As far as future collaborations with Mobb Deep, Nas stated:
“At the moment, I just got back into the studio, and my focus right now has been just starting to work on the album, so who knows?”
With everything negative apparently behind them now, Prodigy pays much respect to Nas by stating:
“Nas is like King Queensbridge, he's the man out there.”
At press time, both Mobb Deep and Nas are working individually on new studio albums to be released before the summer of 2011, Mobb Deep’s ninth studio album and Nas’ tenth.

Beef or not, all three artists make exceptional music, so what a better idea then joining the talent and releasing collaboration material. ‘Dog Shit’ was a banger, hopefully all the beef is behind them, so that more good music will be released by the three.
