Nearly 3,47,319 students will take the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test- 2010 (EAMCET) to be held in 668 centres across the State on Sunday.
The initial key for EAMCET will be released on May 26 and marks will be revealed within 15 days after the examination. However, the final ranks are likely to be announced on July 1 after the Board of Intermediate Education announces the results of advance supplementary examinations.
While 2,78,801 candidates are expected to appear for the engineering entrance examination, 68,518 are expected to sit for the agriculture and medical entrance test.
EAMCET-2011 convenor NV Ramana Rao made it clear that latecomers would not be allowed into the examination hall, even if they are late by one minute. They should be present an hour before the scheduled time at the test centre. The candidates are advised to seek blank OMR sheets in case they get defective ones and also not write any symbols or content that is irrelevant.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University of Hyderabad (JNTU-H), which is holding the test, is making all efforts to prevent malpractice in the exam. Apart from seeking the assistance of the police department, the JNTU-H authorities are fixing cellphone jammers at about 25-30 problematic examination centres. They will also conduct manual frisking of candidates and take their thumb impressions to prevent impersonation. Criminal cases will be lodged against both candidates and invigilators who carry cellphones, bluetooth equipment and other electronic gadgets inside the exam centres. Police will shut down all computer and xerox centres in the vicinity of the centres. The director general of police has already instructed superintendents of police in all districts to provide necessary security arrangements apart from conducting thorough checking of the exam centres to prevent malpractice. Police will also check nearby hotels and lodges before and during the examinations.
