Norway names the day

Norway's courtship of the Hague Agreement, soon to be consummated, has been closely followed on this weblog (see here and here). The final chapter is now in sight, according to The Hague Notification No. 99: on 17 March the Government of the Kingdom of Norway deposited its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs, which will enter into force via-a-vis that most affjordable of jurisdictions on 17 June 2010.

Norway goes all the way ... to Geneva

Last month Class 99 asked if Norway was about to join the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement, thus completing the set of European Union and non-EU EFTA states. Well, SolvÄr Winnie Finnanger (Senior Legal Advisor, Design and Trademark Department, Norwegian Industrial Property Office) has emailed to say that Norway is indeed finally acceding to the Geneva Act ("We have been waiting for this for a long time!", she adds), pointing out that her office's website has all the necessary information ready and available in English here.

Norway to join Hague?

We hear that Norway may soon join the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement. Norway's accession means that all the EEA countries (the EU, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein) are members of Hague - if and when it happens, it starts to add up to a sensible reason for using the Hague route to cover "greater Europe" and the European borders.
