To commemorate 20th death anniversary of former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi Youth Congress organized blood donation camps in Srinagar and Jammu.
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during a poll campaign.
According to a spokesperson of the party scores of Youth Congress activists donated blood in the camps
“We have started our mission for peace, prosperity and development of our state and we shall stand by our efforts until the last drop of blood in our body,” J&K Youth Congress President and former MLA Sangrama, Shoaib Lone told KNS.
Raising slogans “Youth Congress Zindabad” the enthusiastic activists in presence of their president donated blood for the needy. The donors included both male as well as female activists. Some of the activists who were not allowed to donate blood on medical grounds by medicos were disappointed.
Prominent Youth Congress activists among those who donated blood included Shoaib Lone, Dr Mir Audil Farooq, Abid Kashmiri, Irfan Naqib, Dr. Harbaksh Shanti, Irshad Ahmad, Khursheed Mir and Altaf Ahmad.
Later on the Youth Congress Activists under the chairmanship of Shoaib Lone held a meeting wherein a two minute silence was observed for peace.
