Michael Bolton

Michael Bolton
Is Michael Bolton cool again?

The adult-contemporary singer's appearance on a "Saturday Night Live" digital short featuring Andy Samberg's Lonely Island music group stole the show this weekend.

In "Jack Sparrow," Bolton, who hasn't had a hit since 1993's "Said I Loved You...But I Lied," sings the chorus for the rap group -- and he's obsessed with "Pirates of the Caribbean."

At the start of the video, he tells the group, which also includes Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, that he was late to the studio because he was watching a "Pirates" marathon.

As the Lonely Island members rap their lyrics about girls and shoot-outs, Bolton comes in with the chorus: "This is the tale of Captain Jack Sparrow/Pirates so brave on the Seven Seas" -- much to the group's confusion.

Then he keeps yelling out "Captain Jack Sparrow" and "Johnny Depp" over their lyrics.

But arguably the best part of the video is when Bolton, dressed as Depp's Captain Sparrow, belts out more Pirates-centric lyrics from a pirate ship.

Inexplicably, Bolton then launches into lyrics about "Forrest Gump," "Erin Brockovich" and "Scarface" -- dressed as the films' characters -- and acts out scenes from the flicks.

"Jack Sparrow" appears on The Lonely Island's May 10 album, "Turtleneck and Chain."
