Maya Angelou


Maya Angelou lost 50 pounds and she accredits the loss to eating healthy. Fusing food and words to helping make it happen, the esteemed writer opened up her house to share her delight of food with others. On Thursday morning the popular poet shared dishes from her latest book and surprisingly her focus of literary delight was found on the pallets of those who tasted the foods.
“I find great delight in bringing together certain delight for certain ingredients,” said Maya Angelou. “It is a wonderful treat to me to cook well.”
Maya Angelou has some serious advice for those folks who want to eat well. Take charge of portions, control on how much you eat as well as when you eat small portions. The 83-year-old had solid advice for those looking to shed weight and she herself has found success with it.
Maya Angelou is one of the most honored writers of her generation.Known for her distinct prose and touching look on life, she gives breath to stories by use of words not seen before. The highly acclaimed poet took time to build up her cooking skills as well with the release of her latest work.
“I like to encourage cooks to dare. To be a serious cook you need to dare,” says Maya Angelou. Dare she does with the latest book in her series “Great Food, All Day Long: Cook Splendidly, Eat Smart.”
