Bachelorette

Bachelorette

The Bachelorette is back on ABC for its 7th season beginning Monday, May 23rd. Dentist and Dancer Ashley Hebert is this year’s lonely gal looking for love among 25 eligible bachelors this season. Ashley, you might remember, nearly found true love on season 15 of The Bachelor with Brad Womack but was eliminated in the final three.
Now, it’s Ashley’s turn to do the eliminating and the producers of The Bachelorette have found her quite an array of men to choose from.
BentleyThe opening eight minute montage of The Bachelorette is a rather confusing mélange of back story for Ashley and a preview of the season to come. Most importantly, this montage introduces us to Bentley who will without a doubt be this season’s most talked about Bachelor. A single father living in Utah, Bentley is seen in the opening ripping Ashley and admitting he really doesn’t care for her. And that is not even the most interesting Bentley related twist to come in this first episode.
The Guy in the MaskIf you have been watching the promos for The Bachelorette the past few weeks then you have no doubt seen the masked man. The masked man’s name is Jeff and if you are expecting some kind of dramatic reveal you can forget it, at least for the first episode. Jeff has a point to make about judging people by their looks and while he is painted as a creep wait till you see how Ashley reacts to the weird guy in the mask.
The Drunk GuyThere is always one and this year his name is Tim. Incapable of handling the pressure of being one of 25 guys fighting for the affections of a stranger, not to mention that creepy guy in the mask, Tim gets wasted drunk and passes out, as seen in the show promos. Once again, I cannot tell you how great and unexpected Ashley’s reaction is to Tim.
The Rest of the GuysNine of the 25 guys get their own promo time near the start of the show. The standouts are J.P a New Yorker in the real estate and construction biz. J.P is a rarity among this group; a handsome and mature adult. Sadly for J.P, Ashley’s reaction to another contestant, William, a goofball salesman, may portend bad things for J.P especially when he professes to wanting to be a child the rest of his life.
Ames is a 31 year old egotist who wants you to know that Yale is in Connecticut. Ben C. is a lawyer from New Orleans who gets Ashley’s attention with a French lesson. Ben F. is a sweet guy who arrives at the Bachelorette mansion carrying a bottle of wine from his very own vineyard. And one last Bachelor to watch is West whose back story will likely leave a few of you dabbing away tears.
The Bachelorette airs May 23rd at 9:30 Pm Eastern, 8:30 Am Central following the final competition episode of Dancing with the Stars.
