Angela Bassett

Featuring Paula Patton, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Laz Alonso, Salim Akil's Jumping the Broom debuted in third place, after Thorand Fast Five, pulling in $13.7m at 2,035 theaters according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo.
Though way below the box-office take of Tyler Perry's comedies, the low-budget Patton-Bassett-Devine combo's per-theater average was a respectable $6,732.
Jumping the Broom officially cost $6.5m to produce. Needless to say, that figure doesn't include marketing/distribution expenses.
Opening at no. 4, the more high-profile Kate Hudson-Ginnifer Goodwinromantic comedy Something Borrowed collected an estimated $13.15m at 2,904 locations, averaging a relatively modest $4,530 per site. A dismal 3% approval rating among Rotten Tomatoes' top critics surely was no major incentive to moviegoers.
Directed by Luke Greenfield, the Alcon Entertainment-produced Warner Bros. release also features Colin Egglesfieldand John Krasinski. Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank is one of the film's producers. Something Borrowed's worldwide cume: $15.85m. Cost: $35m.
Carlos Saldanha's Rio, featuring the voices of Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway, drew $8.2m (-44%) at no. 5. Domestic total: $114.9m. Worldwide: $407.2m. Cost: $90m.
As mentioned in my previous post, to date Rio remains the biggest worldwide box-office hit of 2011.
