Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Corey McGriff, better known as television and radio personality DJ Megatron.
According to TMZ, the suspects, 20-year-old Richard Cromwell and 21-year-old William Williams, were taken into custody this morning.
McGriff, 32, was gunned down in Staten Island, NY, early in the morning of March 27 just a block from his home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police told the New York Daily News that they believe the two men stalked McGriff for a block before shooting and killing him in a robbery that went tragically wrong. They reportedly confessed to the crime -- Williams allegedly fired the fatal shot and Cromwell snatched McGriff's watch, a gift from his 11-year-old daughter, from his body before they both fled. They were identified by witnesses and surveillance footage from the scene.
However, they pleaded not guilty to charges of robbery, murder and criminal possession of a weapon. A lawyer for Williams also denied there was any confession.
DJ Megatron was best known as the on-air mixer on BET's hip-hop program '106 & Park' since 2007. He started his career in radio in Boston and Philadelphia before working at New York's Hot 97. He is survived by his wife and three children
